Seven Ste. Genevieve cross country athletes participated in the Notre Dame Invitational in Cape Girardeau on Saturday.
In the boys junior varsity race, Devin St. Clair had an outstanding run, placing second with a time of 18:44.50. He was just two seconds behind the winning runner from Delta. Mason Gegg took seventh place with a time of 19:27.32, while Levi Weigand was right behind, clocking in at 19:34.02 which was good for eighth place.
The two runners that rounded out the scoring for the Dragons were Alexander Goeddel and Kegan Smith. Goeddel (21:43.25) was 64th, while Smith (26:28.24) took 127th. As a team, the Dragons finished in fifth place with 141 points. Cape Notre Dame won the race with 70 points.
Two young ladies ran for the Dragons in the girls junior varsity division. Alina Bader crossed the finish line in 26:13.97 which placed her in 30th. Alyssa Fahnestock was 63rd with a time of 30:01.82.
The Dragons will run at Potosi on Saturday. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
