The Ste. Genevieve Dragons were represented by seven participants at the Class 3, District 1 cross country meet at Cape Notre Dame High School on Saturday. The meet marked the end of the season for the Dragons.
The boys team finished in ninth place with a total of 224 points. The top finisher for the Dragons was Devin St. Clair. The sophomore ran the course in 18:50.53, good for 32nd place. Right behind was teammate Brandon Iseman. He finished in 33rd place with a time of 18:51.77 in his final senior race.
Levi Wiegand ended his freshman campaign with a 47th place finish, clocking in at 19:31.30. The other two point scorers were freshmen Nathan St. Clair and Mason Gegg. St. Clair ran a 19:56.41 which placed him 53rd. Gegg finished in 59th with a time of 20:20.55. One other runner, freshman Lucas Smith, ran a 21:40.46 which was good for 75th.
On the girls side, the Dragons had one runner, sophomore Alina Bader. She ran the course in 28:35.02 which placed her 58th.
It is clear that Ste. Genevieve fielded a very young team this season, meaning the future is bright for the Dragons.
