The Jefferson girls JV Blue Jays defeated Kingston in a two-quarter contest at home on Monday. Jefferson defeated the Cougars, 17-7 to improve to 2-6 on the season.
Some of Jefferson’s athletes had this to say about the game:
Maddie Edmond—”I think we played very well tonight. At the beginning, we were very slow, but then got into the game more. Coming into the second half of the season, I feel like we are more determined to win and have a good mindset since we won tonight.”
Gabby Beffa—”Today’s game was definitely a great start to the new year. In the first quarter, we first came out slacking a little on defense, but by about halfway through the quarter, the energy level rose dramatically. We, as a team, were running the floor and taking open shots. I am extremely happy with the way the game went today, and hope the same energy can be continued through the season.”
Paige Wagner–“I think we all had a very good game tonight. The first quarter we weren’t playing to our full intensity, but by the second quarter, we were talking and in full speed. For only playing two quarters, I think we worked hard, and it’s what the team needed to come back from break and win games.”
Peyton Cattoor—”Our game against Kingston went really well. It was a great way to start off 2020! In the first quarter, we had trouble with defense, but we improved as the game went on. On the other hand, we ran our offense smoothly throughout the entire game, which is something we’ve struggled with in past games. Overall, everything went really well, and we came out on top!”
The Jays return to action on Thursday at Arcadia Valley against the Tigers. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
