The Cape Central Tigers JV football team moved to 2-0 on the young season after a decisive 26-0 victory over Portageville on Monday at home.
The Tigers got touchdowns from Trey Jones, Morgan Diamond, Chris Harris, and Clayton McClard. Noah Sterling was given the offensive MVP award by the coaches because of his “big time third down catch and third down reverse.”
The lineman of the game was Soren Janzow. He said the team continues to improve. “I feel like we have come together as a team better,” he noted. “Also I feel that Coach Gibbs has helped us. I’ve improved tremendously, and I feel like the team has improved the most because this year we are already doing better than last year. We practice hard and play harder.”
Defensively, J’heir Hamilton led the team in tackles for the second week in a row. Harris was named defensive MVP, and the player of the game was Diamond, who rushed and threw for a touchdown.
The team will play its third consecutive home game on Monday against Jackson. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
